Preparation

DIY Frameless Glass Fencing is easy to install with our step-by-step installation guide. Installation is best when you are well prepared and methodical with the planning and layout.

You will need all the appropriate tools and someone to help you as the glass panels are very heavy (up to 72kg per panel).

What do I need?

If this is the first time you're installing glass fencing, we offer a assistance with the layout and gap spacing and additional general advice. This helps eliminates errors, removes the guesswork and makes planning easy.

The basic tools required for glass fencing are: Tape measure, string line, spirit level, timber blocks, chocs and wedges, masking tape, marker pens, allen keys, screw drivers, hammer, tongs, braces, clamps, cleaning equipment, pouring jug, mixing device, core driller/drill. You can hire a Core drills and core bits from the local equipment hire store.

What should I know?

Glass fencing needs to be installed on an existing concrete slab or on a concrete strip footing or plinth. The concrete footing can be covered by tiles or pavers of your choice. Use core drill spigots in concrete with non-shrink grout.

The alternative is to install the glass fencing onto timber decking with a suitable sub-frame for additional strength. Use  base plated spigots on decking and either screw or bolt them into the timber sub-frame beneath the decking boards.

You can, if the deck is low enough to the ground, install a concrete plinth directly under the decking boards and use core drill spigots.

Note, core drill spigots are intended for installation in concrete only, and base plated spigots are intended for decking application only (base plate spigots are not recommended for installation on concrete).

All products required for installing standard glass pool fencing and balustrading are available. If you have any special requirements, such as a custom panel, be sure to let us know and we can arrange and deliver these goods for you too.

We also recommend you have a read the FAQ's & Safety section.
